I’m a theatre educator, documenting my thoughts on theatre and theatre education, and my journey through trying to do it all virtually.
Julie Ann Hawk teaches high school theatre in Prince George’s County Public Schools, Maryland. She has earned a Master of Arts in Vocal Performance/Musical Theatre from New York University, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Edinboro University, and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance/Opera from Mercyhurst University. She spent a decade primarily as a Vocal/General Music teacher, at both the elementary and high school level, and running extracurricular and community theatre programs, before making the leap to full time theatre teacher in 2017. She is on the Theatre Curriculum Writing Team for PGCPS, having most recently collaborated on the curriculum updates for the Visual and Performing Arts Magnet schools in the district serving as the primary writer in the areas of Theatrical Design and Playwriting. She is also on the board of the Maryland Theatre Education Association, currently serving as the Vice President of Programming.
